Yesterday marked the start of RiseUp Summit, considered to be the largest entrepreneurship event in the Middle East. Taking place in the Grand Egyptian Museum and running from March 16-18, RiseUp gives more than 150 startups the opportunity to showcase their brand to thousands of attendees, including potential customers, partners and investors.
While being active for 10 years, this year’s theme is to #StayReal, and will feature a number of influential speakers.
To recap Thursday, Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister Of Communications and Information Technology, started off by discussing how the summit encourages both domestic and foreign investors to check out regional startups and open the door for future cooperation.
Then, we were introduced to Dina El Mofty, the CEO of Injaz Egypt, and Ronaldo Mouchawar, the Vice President of Amazon Middle East and North Africa. Both discussed their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of starting a business in the region, as well as what it takes for business owners to be successful in the Middle East market.
For Friday, expect to see some well-known speakers such as Cairokee’s frontman Amir Eid, NEOM’s director Hashim Nabulsi and Vice’s SVP Mark Adams. As for Saturday, Vezeeta’s Chief Product Officer Mohamed El Mougi will make an appearance as well as Moon Knight’s director Mohamed Diab and director Amr Salama.
Lastly, there will be surprise announcements during both days and we can’t wait to find out who they will be.
