Travelling with friends can be an absolute nightmare even before you’ve booked anything. The planning stage can drive you crazy because you’ll have that one friend who wants to go in a certain month and another friend who wants to go in another month or that one friend who wants to go by plane and another friend who wants to go by train. And this is all before you’ve even booked anything, let alone started your holiday… But luckily, travel apps are here to help!

Travelling with friends is undoubtedly difficult, that is why we’ve put together a list of travel apps to help you and your friends along the journey. Using these apps will help you get organized and boast a hassle free trip for you and your friends.

Plan the Perfect Road Trip Using Roadtrippers

    (available on iOS, Android, website)

There’s nothing better than exploring a new country or even parts of your country by chucking your bags in the back of a car and heading out on a road trip. The application Roadtrippers lets you and your friends communally plan a road trip by choosing the route and mapping sights and bites you want to stop off on the way. Roadtrippers is a great way for everyone to have a say in what they want to do in the road trip and put together the perfect route. When you’re on the road, Roadtrippers also offers turn-by-turn directions for you to follow on the way.

Sort Out Holiday Expenses With Splitwise

    (available on iOS, Android, website)

There’s nothing more confusing then when the bill arrives and it has to be split eight ways especially when one friend only ordered a starter. That is when travel apps can help and a great option is Splitwise, an app that relies on a simple method to sort out confusing group holiday finances and bills. Just get your friends to download the app, enter in the expenses as you go, and voilà, it will split everything for you. It is a simple solution to a complicated problem and is an essential app for any group holiday. However, Splitwise doesn’t let you change currencies in the app, so it might be better for holidays in your own country.

    Splitting Bills with Splittr

    (available on iOS, Android, website)

Splittr is another bill splitting and group finance app like Splitwise, but with a few noticeable differences that might make it a better pick for you and your friends. The biggest perk of using Splittr over Splitwise is that it has the notable advantage of offering different currencies. This makes Splittr a perfect app for trips abroad when you’ve paid for the flights in your home country and especially if you’re doing a multi-country trip. Another super helpful feature for you and your friends is the ability to export and print out a spreadsheet with all the expenses, which might come in useful if anyone thinks someone typed in the wrong amount somewhere along the trip.

Plan Out Your Itinerary Using Wanderlog

    (available on iOS, Android, website)

If your friends need a little bit of a push and the more democratic or collective apps like Packed aren’t working out for you, Wanderlog may be the perfect way for you to organize an itinerary and share it with your friends. For lovers of lists and planning, Wanderlog lets you list the locations of all the restaurants, bars, cafes, museums, and sights you want to see which would then pop onto a map with the walking distances between them listed. You can then organize these routes into the perfect day-by-day itinerary. Beyond that, you can add all your flight and hotel details onto the app so everything is perfectly organized in one place. With Wanderlog, you can be sure to make an itinerary you will be proud to share with your friends

Share Your Holiday Snaps with Google Photos

    (available on iOS, Android, website)

Ever feel like you take thousands of pictures, but never actually look at them after your trip or share them with friends? Unlike the days of waiting eagerly to get the photographs from your disposable camera and look at them with your friends, nowadays we often tend to leave our pictures hidden away somewhere in the memory of our phone. Google Photos is a great way to not just store, but also share the pictures we take, and is the perfect tool to share your group holiday pictures together. Unlike sharing photos over WhatsApp, email and Facebook, Google Photos lets you create shared photo albums with friends that you can all contribute to and enjoy.

Some of these applications may also require in-app purchases to use additional features. Beyond that, these apps do provide you with the tools to make for an easy trip with friends, with each travel app easing up a usually tedious process.
