In the battle to control climate change, Egypt aims to increase its renewable energy resources from 20% to 42% by 2035.
Data revealed that the MENA region (Egypt in particular) is set to experience climate change at its worst. The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy are hard at work, promising a greener future for Egypt.
Examples of Renewable Resources: Biomass energy, Hydropower, Geothermal power, Wind Energy and Solar Energy
It’s worth noting that the whole of Africa contributes to 4% of the world’s total emissions.
In agreement with the Paris Climate Accords, Egypt plans to stay below a 1.5 degree Celsius increase in average temperatures.
Steps Towards A More Secure Future

Maged Mahmoud currently oversees the Benbar Solar Park project in Aswan. Which is set to be the largest solar energy project in the world and is expected to generate 1600 megawatts of electricity!

Understandably, smaller businesses have shown hesitancy towards going green. Sustainability costs money and its advantages are not immediately noticeable. However, businesses that scrap non-renewable energy will see how cost-effective it is in the long run.
The government remain hard at work, in the effort to encourage smaller businesses to take a more ‘greener’ approach.
