British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid, has smacked us yet again with what would be her final architectural legacy of absolute innovative art. Born in 1950 in Baghdad, Iraq, Hadid studied mathematics in the American University of Beirut, then moved to London in 1972 where she attended the Architectural Association, earning a diploma prize in 1977. Her presence continued to shape modern human advancement for decades to come within the entire field of architecture, constantly outdoing what humanity can achieve with cement, stone, glass, and steel. Her final project, the Beijing Daxing International Airport, was finally completed, after five years of construction, and is currently the largest singular airport in the world. Though Hadid unfortunately passed away on March 31st, 2016, her consistent and spectacular projects that symbolized social progress and advanced material design are presented throughout several continents. The architect founded Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) in 1979, and after her passing, her ideas, inspiration, and teachings continue to fuel projects in what can only be described as nothing short of an enlightened and utopian ideology.

Besides this queen of the curve’s heightened sense of futuristic art in her designs, Hadid has been given several titles and acknowledged by all sorts of civic institutions and professionals. She was listed as ‘World’s Most Powerful Woman’ in Forbes, as well as being included in TIME magazine in the ‘100 Most Influential People in the World,’ who also named her as the world’s top thinker in 2010, was awarded the ‘Stirling Prize,’ the world’s highest recognition in architecture, and named by UNESCO as an ‘Artist for Peace.’ Hadid’s work did not go unnoticed by royalty either. In 2012, she was made a Dame commander of the Order of the British Empire by none other than Queen Elizabeth II in 2012, only to then receive the Royal Gold Medal in 2016. The Republic of France has also honored Hadid by awarding her with the ‘Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.’
