Fifty days challenge and Astronaut In The Ocean

She intiated a 50 days challenge on Instagram, where she posts short videos of herself singing in her room. On the 12th of February, Tasneem Elaidy posted a video singing “Astronaut In The Ocean” by Masked Wolf. The video blew up with over 8M views on Tiktok, and has gained her over 230k followers on Instagram, and over 410K followers on Tiktok. The original singer, Masked Wolf, contacted her afterwards and complimented her about her performance, asking for a duet; which she agreed to, ultimately gaining her an even larger fan base.

    More on Tasneem

The 20 year old is a double major in the field of music performance and sound engineering at AUC. She has been taking piano lessons since childhood, and later discovered that she can sing well. Around this time is when she began going to open mic nights and singing at talent shows during her school years. Tasneem said that social media has helped her a lot with her singing career, and has been on social media for two years now, hoping to create a strong fan base; and boy did she!

One of her muses and inspirations is Beyonce. Tasneem hopes to one day sing alongside Beyonce or Jacob Banks. One of her favorite lyricists is J Cole, a rapper who inspires her tremendously.

That’s not all there is about Tasneem. One of her other talents, besides playing the piano and singing, includes styling outfits and cooking. She’s into creating unique outfits, especially after she wore the hijab. On cooking, Tasneem said, “I cook. I cook dessert very well. Cheese cake is the best thing I can whip up.”

    Blue Shirt: Her EP

Listen to the album on Anghami now!

On December 1st, Tasneem released an EP on multiple platforms, creating three original songs already in the start of her professional career. There was a lot of work put in the album. The rising star wrote two of the three songs: “Run” and “Blue Shirt.” “Blue Shirt” was written three years ago, and the music was produced by a guitarist friend of hers. Her production company, Adekon Publishing, is owned by a family friend who was also a previous teacher of hers.

One of the greatest things about having connections online and a fan base was that a cover artist on Instagram helped her create her album cover. The cover artist sent her the illustration, and they edited it together with a blue background to match the album’s name.

Tasneem is thankful to a lot of people who have supported her with her album and her ongoing journey. She’d like to give thanks to: her music partner Nadine Radwan, Ahmed Ibrahim, and her producer, Ramy Hussein. According to Tasneem, her father, her mother, and her friends Mostafa and Weaam have helped her with her album. She then expressed her gratitude to Allah, saying, “the invisible hand that has managed to put me in all the right places and guide me through all the right paths.”

    About her family and friends

“A walking ENCYCLOPEDIA that literally taught me everything about people and work.”

    –Tasneem about her father.

“The greatest mother of all time that kept me grounded and close to God throughout all of this.”

    –Tasneem about her mother.

“My bestfriend and the inspiration behind everything I do.”

    –Tasneem on her bestfriend, Mostafa.

“A walking personal diary that I gossip with every night about everything.”

    –Tasneem on her friend Weaam.

    Future plans!

After graduation, Tasneem intends on venturing into her big plan of earning a masters in voice studies. So in case you were wondering if she takes this seriously, let me tell you then, she does! Her future plans also include getting on Twitter and Youtube, and with her fans asking her for longer covers, Youtube will definitely come in handy. Hopefully in the works as well are some singing lessons and tutorials by Tasneem, as well as other impending projects and more. Cross your fingers, and stay tuned for some more original music by Tasneem Elaidy!
