Apparently the latest buzzword to hit the interwebs is Clubhouse. Lately we’ve been hearing about this social app a lot, wondering why it’s taking the world by storm now. Well, here’s all you need to know about the invite-only chat app. A first quick hint, let’s think of it as an audio chat social network.

Clubhouse is an audio-based invite only chat app created by Paul Davison and Rohan Seth and has been launched during the pandemic in March 2020. Clubhouse is all about virtual rooms which you can enter to listen to or participate in a conversation and/or discussions on a specific topic. You can also create a room on a certain topic yourself. Similar to a podcast but live and with an added layer of exclusivity. Clubhouse is invite-only app which means that one can’t just download it off the app store and create an account, you’ll need to be invited by an existing member to be able to join.
Once you join, you select topics of interest, like tech, books, business or health. The more information you give the app about your interests, the more conversation rooms and individuals the app will recommend you to either follow or join. The conversation room is just like a conference call, but with some people on the call talking, and most listening in, in addition you can actually record it too. Just like any phone call once the conversation is over the room is closed. and you can still record the call.
How to get an invite
To join, an existing Clubhouse user has to send you an invitation from their app giving you access to set up an account. If you are invited, you’ll see a link texted to your phone number, directing you to a sign-up page in the app. Clubhouse existing users have two invites only at first making it even harder on us on whom to invite. The creators behind the clubhouse app are aiming to open clubhouse to the whole world in 2021.
