Over the past few weeks, from Algeria to Lebanon, parts of the Arab World have risen up in revolt against corruption. Local and international media outlets covered the protests; however, one particular country was cut off.
Iraqis in Baghdad took to Tahrir Square for the fourth week in a row to call for the ousting of the current regime headed by Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi. Unfortunately, the government’s forces cracked down violently to put an end to the uprising, and now, the situation is more unclear than ever.
On Friday, Iraqis got together to hold a candlelight vigil for those who fell during the clash. People sang the national anthem and waved the flag in honor of those who passed away.
