Scoop Empire sat down with the master minds behind the latest competition, “The Gifted Chef” and got you the low down on what’s going on and who are the celebrity chefs involved.
What is The Gifted Chef?
The Gifted Chef is the first cooking competition by Casper & Gambini’s and TheGiftery.com brought to Cairo to give cooking fans and foodies a chance to show off their talent and connect with both brands in a personal way.
What brought the 2 brands together?
IRG (Franchisee of Casper & Gambini’s in Egypt) has been working with TheGiftery.com on marketing its chocolate truffle line The Chocolate Bar online, and we both had the idea of doing a cooking competition separately previously but thought it’s a great idea to join forces as we are both known names in the market and by joining forces we will definitely emphasise on that.

What was the inspiration behind the idea?
We want people to get to know Casper & Gambini’s not just as a restaurant, but also a brand. In addition, Casper & Gambini’s is all about food culture and passion behind its dishes, which is something everyone who loves cooking knows. So a cooking competition by Casper & Gambini’s only makes sense! Even better, TheGiftery.com is giving everyone a great chance to walk away with very cool prizes by prominent brands.
Who are the judges? And why have the been deemed the chosen ones?
Judges are :
Mark Khalife – Managing Director – IRG (franchisee of Casper & Gambini’s in Egypt)- heading the whole company and a food savvy at heart with a palate for taste and flavor.
Chef David Al Bitar – Executive Chef – Casper & Gambini’s Egypt – he’s the man behind all the super delicious and creative dishes that come out of the kitchen with a finesse for cooking and culinary creations.
Chef Andrew – known for his scrumptious dishes on Fatafeet and slew of amazing restaurants opened around Egypt.
Laila Naga – Ex F&B at the Fairmont and owner of Pastaweesy one of the coolest joints in Cairo.
What are the Prizes?
All Prizes are provided by www.TheGiftery.com, they are sponsored by Cozy Casa, Campingaz, Table Royale, Coleman, Pyrex.
Cozy Casa will offer five Lechuza self-watering pots to the judges and five gifts for the winners which will be a mix of the ‘Royal VKB’ Garlic Crusher and ‘Microplane’ Ultimate Citrus Tool.
Campingaz will offer Campingaz Expert Plus BBQ, Coleman will offer Coleman Blue Combo set (cooler 54 quart-cooler 9 quart- jug ½ gallons).
Pyrex will offer Red Cast Iron Round casserole, white Vitroceramic Oval Casserole and a set of 3pcs Rectangular Roasters – Excellence, in addition to a Pyrex Platter for every guest. That’s not all, many surprise giveaways will be available as well.

How does it work?
The process is really simple; you send us your recipe including ingredients, preparation time, process and everything at thegiftedchef@thegiftery.com . Use your creativity to amaze us, your recipe should be practical “preparation time should not exceed 20 min”, feel free to send us a photo of your recipe ‘bear in mind that the more you engage people with a pic. of the dish the more likes you get’, also send us the name of your recipe. You send us all these plus your contact; your full name, phone number, and email address. Then you register at www.TheGiftery.com and like both pages ‘The Giftery.com & Casper & Gambini’s Egypt’
We will upload your recipe on both fan pages, double your chances to win by encouraging your friends to vote for you on both pages, the 5 recipes having higher number of likes will be shortlisted to attend a live cooking competition in front a panel of judges. You get to be a REAL CHEF for a FULL DAY. Judges will vote for the best two recipes..
When is the deadline?
The deadline was supposed to be on the 10th of May, however it was postponed to next Sunday 12 May to give you more chance to bring on the GIFTED CHEF in YOU*. Today though is the last day for voting!
When and where is the event? How do you get invited?
The event will be held at Casper & Gambini’s Citystars’ Terrace, Saturday the 19th of May at 2 pm. It’s a closed VIP guest list event; guests will be contacted and they will get their invitations delivered straight to their doors.
