During the education edition of Egypt Can conference, we got to chitchat with one of the most influential scientific figures in the history of the Arab World, Dr. Farouk El Baz. The conference gathered Egyptian expatriate scientists and experts to discuss the issue of improving the educational sector in Egypt, and of course, Dr. Farouk El Baz was among the key speakers of the prestigious event. The Renowned American Egyptian Space Scientist worked with NASA to assist in the planning of scientific exploration of the moon!
What’s your feedback on Egypt Can conference?
Egypt Can is a wonderful initiative that can inspire Egyptians to rebuild our image, improve our country, and restore our former glory. I think there should be a link on the website, as a way for students to be able to directly ask the experts and scientists questions that come on every edition of the conference.
What’s the achievement you’re most proud of?
That I have raised four very successful daughters!
What do you think of the efforts of the ministry of emigration?
Wonderful, I can’t add or advise for any changes. What Her Excellency does is superb and she is a fabulous woman with a wonderful team.
Who was your role model growing up?
My father was definitely my role model growing up. He was a teacher, and he always used to say;
“what good is knowledge if it’s not shared and passed on.”
What would you say to the youth?
Believe in yourself and feel that you can do anything and everything. You need to learn something new every day. And you need to finish at least one book per month!
