Hijabis are making firsts one after the other, and the beauty pageant community is becoming the next place to accept and portray diversity, as the 20-year-old hijabi, Sara Iftekhar is the first hijab-wearing Finalist of the Miss England beauty pageant.
Iftekhar, a law Student from Northen England with a Pakistani descent competed against 49 other contestants at Kelham Hall in Newark, Nottinghamshire on Monday night. Sara wore an elegant blue gown, with flower embellishments, and an eccentric black turban, along with an oversized ruffled headpiece at the top of her head.
While Iftekhar will not be crowned as Miss England, she has made headlines for her bold move in joining England’s beauty pageant, and she managed to attract the eyes and hearts of the audience all over the world. Sara currently works as a Makeup Artist and won the Miss Huddersfield 2018 in July. She is so thrilled about being a Finalist in Miss England as it is an opportunity that she will be forever grateful for.
