Elbes! Yes, when you hear the name you kind of feel it is associated with some sort of trouble or at least that’s what I thought! Well, no the word is actually used to describe its most basic meaning; to get dressed. But let me say this invasion of new concepts, colors and fashion will definitely make trouble in the market.
Elbes is a brand started by a bunch of ambitious students, all AUCians who decided to apply what they have learned in the university’s extracurricular activities out to the real world. With a creative and young entrepreneurs’ vision, they decided to establish a small company of clothing.

1) Tell us all about the idea behind Elbes and its journey.
The idea of clothing company came up when one of the founders bought a culture-based t-shirt with a pretty cool design but really poor quality as it was torn in few days. So we thought of combining both high quality and culture-based designs which are inspired from the Egyptian culture and every day’s incidents, together in one place and so we came up with Elbes. Most of the designs are handwritten and hand-drawn designs. Then, we initiated a brand-new fashion, which we called “Square-Neck Shirt”. Basically all we had before were either Round or V-neck t-shirts so we thought of bringing something new to Egypt and the whole world.
2) Why t-shirts rather than any other clothes? Who’s your target market?
No, from the beginning we decided to be a “CLOTHING” company not just a “T-SHIRT” company because we have faith that our company will grow bigger and Elbes will become a well-known brand that offers all sorts of fashionable clothes. Our plan now is starting with t-shirts for the summer and hoodies for the winter. Our main targeted market is the young people, our age and older that would understand our designs and appreciate our new crazy fashion styles.
3) “Sqwear it” is the slogan of your square-neck shirts. Tell us why you think it’ll work.
We are always thinking outside of the box and trying to introduce new fashionable ideas to Egypt and everywhere. I guess that this campaign will work just as planned because I do believe that youth nowadays are looking for something different, something new and I promise “Elbes” will be their best destination for that.

We will be selling soon online or through booths in universities, clubs, resorts.

5) Are you going to have your own store soon? If you’re planning where would you like it to be?
A store is our long-term plan, but we hope it won’t take long for our first store to see the light. But if we were to establish our first store now we would like it to be in Zamalek.
