6 Things Egyptian Food Bloggers Need to Stop Doing

We love food, and I think we’ve been making that clear enough so far, I mean we even have a Food and Dining Category. That being said, we tremendously appreciate some of the foodies on the Egyptian food blogging for leading us to satisfy our never-full stomachs.

On the other hand, there are things that some other food bloggers/instagrammers do which frustrates our dining shenanigans. And what frustrates even more is that no one seems to mind, but us. Now the things we’re about to mention are fine if you’re just starting out, but for maven Egyptian foodies out there, these things are not okay anymore:

    Glorifying literally EVERYTHING they taste

    Sept42010 005_crop

We’re all up for using dramatically positive adjectives when it comes to describing food. But sorry, not every burger in town is good, not everything that has processed and bottled chocolate sauce on it qualifies as #foodporn and not everything that has 10 pounds of cheese on it is a Godsend.

In fact, it’s quite the opposite. We go through many average meals, or worse regrettable , until we come by a genuinely good one. And food instgrammers suggesting that everything you stumble upon while eating your way through the city is AMAZING is just a recipe for losing credibility.

    All the Martha Stewart-esque pictures

    enhanced-buzz-22501-1384804098-12

We get that when you want to get a perfect shot of a plate, most of the time the lighting in restaurants is just not cooperating. And we get that you must take it, anyway. But that’s why you’re a food BLOGGER. We expect you to know all the tricks to turn shitty photographing situation into something decent.  And if you’re reposting someone else’s pictures, at least make sure it meets a certain standard of quality.

    New discovery level: Pizza Hut

We don’t mind seeing a familiar face on your Instagram once in a blue moon, if it’s a new menu item they introduced or if it’s a particularly sexy looking dish. But come on, poorly taken pictures of Big Macs? Why are we seeing these again? Our teenage years’ middle name was Big Mac. We would just love to see more pictures of the newest kid on the block or precious hidden gems.

    Following trends blindly

Ramadan 2015 desserts rings a bell, anyone? Everyone and their phone camera was trying to convince us that all the violations that happened to konafa last Ramadan was revolutionary. Just because something is the “trend” nowadays, doesn’t mean it’s a wagon we should be hopping on. In fact, many food trends in Egypt must die. And you are the ones who should be pointing those out.

Even worse, following trends that ENDED 5 YEARS AGO IN THE REST OF THE WORLD blindly

    redvelvet10

At least Ramadan’s dessert disaster was something of our invention. But if you’re still celebrating (average) cupcakes, we will choose to move on. We get that trends generally have delayed arrival in Egypt, but unless it’s an exceptionally delicious trend, you should give it 6 months, one year tops, and then move on.

Not including the place’s/the dish’s name

    instagram-food

Seriously, guys. What’s the point of seeing something that makes us daydream all day at work if you don’t include where we can find it? Stop torturing us.
