21 Ways to Get Rid of Your Inner Negativity

We all go through different phases in life that shape and frame us. At some point, we all enter a depressing isolated bubble where we tend to destroy ourselves psychologically with our inner negativity. But you know what? This is life, sometimes you’ll be dragged down and sometimes you’ll level up. Embrace it, life is short so think positively.

    Work out

Hit the floor and get your sweats out because believe me after this work out you’ll feel much better. Exercise will alleviate your mood, boost your endorphins and help your brain shift towards positive thoughts rather than negative. A healthy mind needs a healthy body!

    Talk it out

Any negative thought likes to be in charge. Well, talking it out can help break this authority. We all reach a point where sometimes we feel that no one will understand how we feel or what we’re going through. Maybe talking it out will give you some perspective and help you realize some of the solutions.

    Doodle your thoughts

Sometimes our thoughts can create messy chaos in our minds, and while writing is definitely helpful to many, why not try something different and go for doodles instead; there’s a lot of freedom in doodling and you never know what will come out. Let’s get this inner negativity out of your head!

    Learn a new skill

It’s been proven time and again that when you learn a new skill, language or instrument, it will take your mind off your current thoughts, at least temporarily. Think of it as a distraction, but a healthy one.

Start your day off with 15 minutes of yoga or meditation

Breathe in and breathe out. Close your eyes and imagine peace and relaxation with some soothing yoga or meditation. Buy yourself a nice matt that motivates you before starting. This is not only for your mind but also for your body. Let’s treat them well!

    Listen to music

Music on, world off. This is just it! Music is a therapy of its own that takes you to a whole new level of mindfulness.

    Travel

We all get excited before visiting a new destination, right? New people, new places and a change of environment. Call it an escape, maybe? Well, let’s phrase it as a healthy getaway.

    Reframe Your Thoughts

Give yourself some slack, we all make mistakes and nobody is perfect! Pay attention to your thoughts, practice mindfulness, and practice the intent of stopping or challenging your negative thoughts. Or maybe just look at the bigger picture in life. Create a different way of looking at the problem. It’s how you think of it. Remember that imperfection can also be perfection!

    Get yourself a new look

Don’t you feel fresh and new after a new haircut, hair color, piercing or maybe a tattoo? Well, it feels good to look new and fresh! Now stand up and go pamper yourself.

    Create something

It’s always good to create something new. From building your own furniture, to creating something with pottery or clay or maybe accessories and clothes, there’s nothing like learning a new craft and working with your hands to give you a feeling of achievement.

    Bake it out

Baking ALWAYS feels good, especially when you have that mouthwatering smell of baked goods wafting through your house; there’s a reason why real estate agents bake cookies before an open house! And an added perk of baking is that you can really let out some steam while you knead that dough!

    Physically/metaphorically throw them away

Write your negative thoughts down, rip them up, and throw them away like yesterday’s trash. This might not work for the more skeptical ones out there, but it’s a fun activity nonetheless and will definitely boost your positivity, even if just for a moment.

    Eat more chocolate!

Who says no to chocolate?. It is actually scientifically proven that chocolate boosts the mood and gives you a nice little spike in your brain’s happy chemicals. Quick note, if you’re a chocolate addict and are afraid to gain weight or don’t want to consume sugar then go and get yourself some dark chocolate. Bonus: dark chocolate is full of antioxidants so not only does it make you happy, but it’s also very healthy!

    Start a gratitude journal

Gratitude is the best attitude, keep that in mind. It’s always healthy when you’re feeling down to list the things you’re grateful for. Don’t let your negative thoughts make you neglect what you actually have. Quick life hack: try a 21 days of gratitude challenge.

    Help others

It’s always soul-soothing to help others, whether through charity, donation or even helping someone solving a personal issue.

    Keep positive company

You are who you surround yourself with! Go out with the ones who level you up. Talk to the ones who make you laugh, who put a smile on your face and distract you with fun conversations and activities.

    Make someone else laugh

Believe us when we tell you that it’s always nice and positive to put a smile on someone’s face and seeing them smile or laugh will make you happy in return.

Do something you’ve always wanted to do

We all have this thing that is always in our mind and never do it because of our daily hassles or just basic laziness. Now it’s the time to get up and DO this thing!

    Start your own gardening project

Go out and decorate your small cozy balcony with some flowers and plants. Decorating a garden is like decorating your soul and will kill any inner negativity.

    Adopt a pet

It’s always nice to have a pet sitting right next to and keeping you company with all the things you do. Get yourself a Buddy but don’t forget adopt and don’t shop!

    Start walking more

Air, Sunlight and nice weather what else do you need to get rid of that inner negativity? Nothing. Grab your shoes and take a nice morning walk that will boost your adrenaline for the rest of the day.

    Let your inner child out

Don’t you miss the tiny little kid in you? Of course, you do! We all miss this soul and the things we used to do when we were kids. Whether you miss your cereal, the games you used to play, or even the activities you used to do as a carefree child. Now it’s time to do them! Let your inner child out!

WE SAID THIS: Life is all about ups and downs, and through them, we grow and learn! It’s time to go easy on yourself and let go of that inner negativity.
