Living in Tagamo3 kind of leaves its toll on you. We get so used to the peace and quiet and empty roads (most of the time), that going to any other area becomes difficult, tiring and irritating.
After living in Tagamo3 for a while, there are things that everyone comes to realize and whether they’re good or bad, there is NOTHING that would make us leave.
Here are just a few things that everyone living in Cairo’s Fifth Settlement can relate to:

Total near Fatma El Sharbatly Mosque is usually the least crowded petrol station
Oil Libya isn’t so bad either and Mobil behind Shell is usually pretty empty, too. But, avoid Shell at all costs!
Not everywhere delivers, even though we’re only five minutes away, and if they do, they’ll charge you a ridiculous delivery fee
You’ll get your food cold anyway and your blood pressure will rise to a zillion, so cut to the chase and just get your food yourself.
There is no ba2ala or forn underneath your home
Which is a good thing, except when we need something quick.
We’ve used every possible Internet gadget and they ALL SUCK!
It takes a good two or three years to get a landline when you’ve moved to Tagamo3 because it wasn’t in their “plan”, so getting online means you’ve been through Huawei, USB modems and God knows what else…. You always end up paying a fortune and getting really slow, crappy internet.
Anything can be stolen, even your landline
Our landline has been stolen twice! That’s to prove what people would do to get Internet around here.
We’re used to having bottles of water always filled for emergencies, which seem to happen every week
There seems to be a deficiency of water in the “suburbs”.
Your car tire’s life span is a lot shorter than usual
With all the new road cracks and everyone around you still constructing their new homes, our tires have the unfortunate luxury of going flat way too often.
You feel like you never need to leave Tagamo3
And we even have our own movie theater, now!
Seif Pharmacy always comes faster than Ezzaby Pharmacy
And it’ll be faster if you just go get it yourself.
You get culture shock when you head to the city because of how crowded it is
That’s the price you get for leaving your comfort zone.
New speed bumps (matab) appear out of nowhere overnight
Those shrieking sounds of people hitting the brakes will tell you where they are. Always be prepared to hit the brakes.
We’ve got most of the best schools and universities at the ends of our streets
Another reason not to ever have to leave!
You can be anywhere in Tagamo3 in practically 10-15 minutes
Think about that before you try convincing us to come to Heliopolis next time.
You refuse to go to the other side of the city
Your borders are between Heliopolis and Maadi and there’s no way on earth you’ll go to Zamelek. You’ve even bid your friends who’ve moved to 6th of October farewell because let’s face it, you’ll never see them anyway!
If there’s one thing we all agree on, it’s that the person who mapped out Tagamo3 is an idiot!
