13 Things You Must Absolutely Do If You Find Yourself in Damietta

Being born and raised in Damietta comes with a price. We’ve delved into that subject before, so there’s no point in sulking. Today, we focus on something entirely else, we focus on what does an individual do if they find themselves in Egypt’s capital of furniture, Damietta.

What does one do? Well, lucky for you, I’m quite a veteran when it comes to being a Domiaty, so I’ve curated a list of things to do if you ever find yourself there. Don’t worry, it ain’t bad at all.

Walk on the Corniche at night

    Via Kenana.
    Via Kenana.

It’s actually really nice and peaceful at night. Don’t forget to buy leb or termis from any of the people who sell them in the streets.

    Have pizza from Pizza Party

Hands down the best place to get pizza from in Damietta. They’re also scattered everywhere across the city so it won’t be that hard finding them.

Head to Seadoor restaurant’s top floor and look at Damietta from above

    Via Kenana.
    Via Kenana.

The picture doesn’t do the view justice. Oh, and don’t forget to try any of their seafood dishes.

    Head to Ras El-Bar

The name literally translates to “head of land,” and it’s a resort city in the Governorate of Damietta. It’s 15 minutes away from the actual city, so you should definitely go.

Ride on a horse or have some ice cream by Ras El-Bar’s beach

    Or walk on Portsaid street

    Via Tripmondo.
    Via Tripmondo.

Only the coolest street in Damietta. Domiaty teenagers have spent at least 80% of their teenage life walking on this street, for absolutely no reason at all. There’s literally nothing there, other than other kids walking. This street was the shit though.

Until you head to the lighthouse where the River Nile literally meets with the Mediterranean Sea

    Or watch dolphins

Okay, okay. They might be rare but dolphins are known to visit Ras El-Bar shores.

Walk by Ras El-Bar’s marina during the early hours of the morning

Then join the fisherman on one of their quests and actually fish with them

And treat some of them 3ala shisha from Hawaii restaurant afterwards

    Via Trip Advisor..

Or just one of them actually because the prices have went up.

And if you guys actually become friends, go for koshari at Zizo

    Via Food Network.
    Via Food Network.

The best of the best. Sorry Tahrir and Tom & Basal, but Zizo wins.

Last but not least, if you happen to drink alcohol you will only be able to find it at 63 Market
