10 Travel Tips Every Egyptian Should Know

Keep this list of useful travel tips in mind next time you plan a trip; they’ll help you savor every moment of it!

    1. Exchange the cash you save

    1

We save money, and then something attracts us to buy or do, and suddenly the money is gone. Well, try immediately exchanging the money you save with foreign currency. This will keep your cash out of your hands more than any other savings plan. Since the Egyptian pound is a bit unstable, I’d suggest that you buy today what you might not be able to buy tomorrow.

    2. Don’t go too cheap

    2

You’re traveling. Treat yourself, try the food, visit the attractions, enjoy the nightlife. You don’t have to splurge; be moderate, but savvy. For example, if you are in a place that is well known for its cuisine, it wouldn’t be smart to cook all your meals just to save a few pounds.

    3. Plan ahead

    3

Planning ahead will save you a lot of money. Book your transportation early, study some of the language basics so you can enjoy yourself there, prepare your playlist and be flexible with your plans. Flexibility is key to the amazing memories you will make.

    4. Meeting people is nice, getting to live with them is priceless

    4

In the last couple of years, websites like Couchsurfing.com and AirBnB.com that allow travelers to meet with locals have become mainstream among backpackers. Consider a home stay; you’ll save money and potentially make lifelong friends. At the very least, you’ll meet a local guide who can show you around.

    5. Live it before capturing it

    5

Live the moment – without the distraction of the camera – while sightseeing. Completely enjoy what you’re doing; don’t wait to enjoy it until you’re watching it on a screen back home.

It’s typical to capture something and share it with friends on social media while traveling, but just to make sure that you get home safe and no one commits hasad against you, wait to share your photos until you’re back home!

    6. You can skip the main attractions

    6

Everybody has their own tastes and preferences. When it comes to traveling, most travel sites and apps show you the main attractions, which is okay for someone who doesn’t clearly know what their interests are in traveling. Be smart enough to go off the beaten path and wander wherever you find your joy.

    7. Paper and pen

    7

I didn’t mention things you should pack because it depends on you and it’s often a matter of common sense. But this one is so underrated: Always have a paper and pen while traveling.

Your electronic devices, including your cell phone, can run out of battery or break down. You don’t want to ruin your trip by losing all your contacts, addresses and reservation numbers. Write all of these travel details down as a backup.

    8. You are different!

    8

When you travel and meet new people from different cultures, do you ever feel that you have to change something about yourself or your personality to fit in with them? Well, don’t. You are different and they are, too. This is one of the most interesting things about traveling – cultural diversity. Enjoy the differences.

    9. Get lost

    9

Getting lost will be the best part of your trip. I know that, normally, people don’t like missing their way and feeling lost, but it’s delightful while traveling and it improves your problem-solving skills. Surprise yourself!

    10. Let go of expectations

    10

The one thing that ruins a trip more than anything else is your expectations, which can lead to disappointment, regret about visiting an attraction, or even declaring the destination to be overrated.
